Bill Tucker Joins Team at Gebbie Foundation

Gregory Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of the Gebbie Foundation, today announced the addition of Bill Tucker to the office staff of the Foundation where he will serve as Chief Operating Officer.  “Bill possesses a unique set of skills that will make him a valuable member of the team,” said Edwards. “Increasingly the Foundation is collaborating with State, County, and City governments, community development organizations, attractions, and businesses on a wide variety of projects to dramatically improve the outlook for the City of Jamestown. Our capacity to participate in revitalization efforts will be greatly enhanced with Bill working with us.”

Tucker most recently served as the Chautauqua County Manager of Airports and Parks following a 3-year period as Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Southwestern New York. Edwards said, “As County Executive, I witnessed Bill’s work firsthand. Whether he was leading Citizen Corps efforts during the floods that hit Silver Creek or serving with the Red Cross, he demonstrated exceptional organizational and leadership skills. I am excited he has joined our talented team.”

Regarding his new role, Tucker said:  “I am looking forward to working with everyone at the Gebbie Foundation to advance their goals and objectives. 2017 looks like it will be a year full of visible changes to Jamestown and I am excited to play a role in the progress that will be made.”

Prior to returning to Chautauqua County, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1986-2007 where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  While in the military, his assignments included U.S. Defense Attaché, Security Assistance Manager, Squadron Operations Officer, Operational Test Pilot, and Tactics Instructor.  Tucker holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Maryland University College, is a graduate of Spain’s Center for National Defense, and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Bill’s previous community activities include past-president of the Jamestown Rotary Club, Chairman of the Chautauqua County Ethics Board, volunteer for the United Way Campaign, Spanish translator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, and Health and Safety instructor for the Red Cross. Tucker resides in Jamestown with his wife, Kathy. They are the parents of three children, Rob, Jon, and Kate.

It has been a long and difficult process to restore the Gateway Station to its former grandeur. Although the station is now open to the public, work continues to develop this city asset into a multi purpose venue that will become an attractive centerpiece for Jamestown.
